It's probably all about fear generated by poor motor skills or
some wierd adrenal cortex thing that clogs the flow of messages to the brain!
Let's face it: People who don't drive are a little odd.
Tell them you're a communist; tell them you're a chid molester;
tell them that your a communist child molester. But don't tell them that you don't drive.
It's the biggest stigma that a person can have in the USA.
To the degree that someone is afraid, they are less able to think
quickly, clearly and logically. I'm 62 and have never driven a car.
It hasn't stopped me from living on both coasts in USA and now in Europe.
Some of my friends who drive are still on the same block.
