When I was 18 I went and got my permit, because I had just gotten married, and felt I need to finally go. Well I have had my permit for two years now..and it recently expired. I have driven a few times to town but that is it. I am to scared to drive anywhere else. I am definely afraid to go take the test, fear of driving, instructor, changing lanes, etc.. My husband drives me around now. I don't work so I don't have to wory about getting there, no kids so I am no worries getting them around. But I feel so depressed latley..thinking about the future how my husband is going to feel when I am older and still don't have my liscene. How I am going to go places do things I need to do when he is at work. Well I just wanted to share my story

I am in a similar situation. I got my learner's permit, but I never got a license. I tried to take the driving test a couple of times. The best time to take it is around 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning when everyone is at work and off the road. I took it and didn't do too badly, but I still didn't pass. The second time I went and took it during rush hour. That was a mistake. I still think they way to learn is to do the student driver thing that lasts several weeks where you can get used to it. It really is boring and lonely to get stuck in the house and not be able to go where you want when you want. If you think you can drive, I hope you will.

i also am similar. i got my learners, then did many lessons, but not enuf to be confident in built up areas e.g. the city or where theres' lots of pedestrians. in real life i'll drive slower than a granny i bet, lol. my driving testing officer never spoke to me, he got me driving at lunch time in the city, the ^&*%#$%^& had it in for me i could tell, well he at least meant to fail me as soon as we met -then he laughed when i was upset at being failed, then he recorded our conversation, for appeal purposes i believe. can u believe that? no wonder i never took the test again. yet to be honest i wasn't confident enuff driving anyway, near trucks or near people. if there were only like 5 cars in the whole country and hardly anyone walking on the streets then i'd be driving like theres no tomorrow, but its not reality unfortunately...
