Hello-
I am new to this forum and just wanted to say this is a great thing! I am in my late 20's and do not drive... I have always gotten panic attacks when I have tried and am also a very nervous passenger. Sometimes it is hard relying on other people to get around but I would rather do that than be the cause of a potentially life-ending accident, especially since the drivers where i live seem like they shouldn't be on the road either... everyone I meet looks at me like I have 2 heads or says I "need to practice to get better" when I try to explain myself...I am so glad to know I am not alone and this is one place where I won't be judged!

Wed, April 29, 2009 - 12:44 AMHI Kristi,
I agree with you. People give me weird looks when I say that I don't drive. I live in a state where you can take public transit at all hours and that bikes are the main form of transit besides cars. I live in the mid-west were I feel it is crazy to have a car with all of the snow that falls here. Who wants to wake up early to shovel snow off their car and then it doesn't start. :-( I have never gotten my license. I got a permit twice, both times they expired before I could get my permit license. I went and took the driving test once, they made the parallel parking so small that they don't tell you driving a truck there is a bad idea. They also don't tell you that the test is timed, thanks no pressure, Jerks! I can always get a bike and I really want one.
I also don't think I would be a good night driving because my vision is not great. I wear glasses, but the thought of driving at night terrifies me. I did drive by myself once during the day and almost made the hubcap come off and it was a rental car and I was terrified. I parked the car and didn't drive it for the rest of my stay.
I personally love walking and taking the bus. Sometime soon I would like to add bike to that list.
So Kristi, you and everyone else here can add another member to the no driving list, me. :-)
I would like to get a car after I finish school, but something inexpensive. I do enjoy driving just not on busy streets and highways. I'm more of a country time or rural type of girl.
