That's because most drivers are sociopaths. They care more about their bloody cars than they care about their follow human beings.

Tue, June 16, 2009 - 1:38 PMHi, bella! Don't feel bad! I don't drive, either, and I'm happy! I'm perfectly happy with riding my old mountain bike, catching the bus, walking...or else...JUST STAYING PUT. ;-)

Re: I thought I was alone
Fri, June 19, 2009 - 9:28 PMI'm really happy to find this website. I've had people tell me that it's time I learn to drive. I am in my 50s. My grandmother who was a very intelligent woman never drove. I have adult ADD and I'm easily distracted so I don't feel I would be a safe driver. My mother quit driving at the age of 79 because she didn't think she was a safe driver. I didn't either and I was grateful that she made that decision herself. -

Sun, July 19, 2009 - 9:49 PMI too have adult ADD and high anxiety. I failed the driving test twice. The area I live in has very poor public transportation and is not pedestrian friendly so I'm planning on taking lessons and doing the test again soon so I can get around here.

Re: I thought I was alone
Fri, July 10, 2009 - 12:23 PMHello Everybody
I am a 53 year old male and I do not drive.
I grew up in the city with the biggest mass transit system and more taxicabs in the US - NYC. I have relied on the NYC transit system. to take me from point A to point B all my life (except when I'm a passenger in someone's car). When I travel out of state I usually take a plane or bus.
When people learn that I do not drive the response is usually, "What you can't drive? You gott' be kiddin' me!"
I did have a driver's permit twice in my life, as a matter of fact I have one now.
Admittedly there have been times when it has been a major inconvience; esp. now that I live in NC - a rural state with miles and miles of highways. But thank God they do have a public transportation system.
Honestly after leaving NYC I am beginning to realize the neccesity of knowing how to drive and I am becoming more and more receptive to the idea of finally learning to drive.
